Does Stress Make Your Symptoms Worse

I believe that stress play a major role in the way people having bipolar disorder experience their symptoms. Even small amounts of stress may affect mood, thinking, sleep or energy levels for many. Others may witness mood swings or else experience existing symptoms becoming stronger.

I have started this thread to discuss the way stress affects symptoms and even the daily functioning. Let me ask members here whether stressful situations tend to cause noticeable changes in mood. Are there some specific types of stress such as work pressure, family issues, lack of sleep or excitement that makes symptoms harder to manage.

Some say that increased anxiety, racing thoughts, irritability or trouble sleeping during stressful periods. Others meanwhile notice shifts in motivation or mood stability. The experiences differ from person to person. Sharing the differences may help others in understanding their own patterns better.

Let us talk here about the way stress impacts you and what kinds of situations tend to trigger changes.

The effects of stress are felt even in small amounts and definitely impact your symptoms. From my own experience, lack of sleep or high stress creates drastic changes in mood and energy levels. Staying vigilant about early warning signs (e.g., restlessness, racing thoughts) gives you the ability to anticipate what is going to happen next.
