How Do You Tell Difference Between Normal Emotions and Bipolar Symptoms

It is confusing. It is really confusing to figure out difference between normal emotions and bipolar symptoms. It is true that everyone has good days and bad days. So, it is not always very clear when a mood shift is part of life or is it something really connected to bipolar disorder. Many believe that the difference is in intensity, how long feeling lasts and whether it starts affecting daily life.

Feeling happy is normal. However, feeling unusually energized, talkative or unable to slow down for several days might not be just regular happiness. The same is for sadness. It might be linked to bipolar symptoms.

Some look at patterns to understand the difference. It might be a sign of a mood shift if a feeling comes out of nowhere, hits harder than expected, lasts longer or does not match what is happening in life.

The experiences differ from person to person. It is not always easy to figure out the difference. How do you tell the difference?

I also experience similar things myself. When I experience a mood change, it will occur very quickly. My regular emotional changes tend to occur in a more gradual manner, but bipolar mood swings are more intense and may cause my brain to move in the direction of my mood.
