How to Stop Over-committing During Good Mood

One may feel like having endless energy during good mood or particularly during hypomania. This usually happens when people take on extra work, make promises, start new projects or so on. It feels like manageable as well as exciting then. However, all the commitments may become overwhelming once the mood shifts.

Some say they need to check in with themselves before agreeing to anything big. They should asl questions like whether is it possible to accomplish the same way on a low day or is it possible to keep up the long-term. Others avoid making fast decisions when they feel energetic unusually. They wait a day or two before confirming. There are even some people who rely on trusted people to help them in balancing their choices.

Moreover, experts suggest to limit the number of new things are to be taken simultaneously. They even suggest to set small goals and not the big ones. The idea is to ensure that the energy does not lead to burnout later.

Waiting for others here to share how they manage over-committing when feeling great and are there tricks for staying realistic during such high-energy days.

I am not immune to this excess energy, which often gives me the tendency to overcommit to things I may not really want to do. Before taking on anything major, I remind myself of my low-energy days. Before accepting any responsibility, I take a moment to check if I am able to do what I said I would do while tired or under stress.
