Usually, it is noticed that creative outlets such as music, painting or writing helps in processing emotions. These even helps in staying grounded during difficult moments of schizoaffective disorder. Expressing feelings through art reduces intensity of symptoms for many. Expressing feelings also helps in providing a safe release.

Has anyone here used creativity? Has creativity emerged as a coping tool? Do your moods affect your artistic output? Some with schizoaffective disorder claims that art has helped them in expressing what words fail to do and especially during episodes.

Would really love to hear the way you incorporate creativity into your daily routine. Has the creativity worked better than traditional grounding techniques? Share your experience as it may inspire others to explore some new ways of coping.

I didn't expect creativity would be so helpful to me. I am not a professionally trained artist, However, drawing and music composition calm me on difficult days, even if it is only in small ways. It is clear that my feelings have an impact on my ability to express myself. On days when I feel confident, I usually draw using bold lines. On calmer, softer days I tend to favour using softer, lighter colours.
