Planning travel with schizoaffective disorder can really be overwhelming for many. New environments, disrupted routines and sensory overload trigger symptoms for them. However, some say that travelling gave them confidence, perspective as well as emotional relief.

Have you travelled amid managing such conditions? Do you make special preparations such as carrying meds, planning rest periods or setting quiet time? Which type of travel work better? It can be like solo travel, family travel or nature-based travel.

Do share whether the experience feel healing or else stressful? Sharing your travel routines and precautions may help others here.

Travel not only helped me more than I expected; it helped me to plan well. I always take my medications with me, schedule breaks during my time away from home, and find places that are peaceful for me to stay in. The types of trips that have worked best for me are nature-based trips, as they help keep me feeling grounded ("down to earth"). Therefore, travel is a healing experience for me rather than a stressful one, and every time I go away from home, it makes me feel better about myself.
