This thread is here to discuss with each other, what to expect when a new person is applying to receive social security disability benefits. Some of us have had easy experiences dealing with SSDI; others of us have had a really hard time with it.
From what we know, social security denies about 70% of initial applications and it usually takes a couple appeals (preferably using an attorney to help you) before you are approved. Some people are never approved; some are approved in a matter of weeks.
So, what was your experience? What hurdles did you go through to get your disability? How long did it take yo get approved? Are you still fighting your case with the social security administration?
