Are support groups more helpful compared to one-on-one therapy

Some living with schizoaffective disorder looks for individual therapy. Others looks for group setting. I personally find that hearing journeys of others makes me feel less isolated.

Let us share what has worked better for members here. Is it private therapy sessions or support groups? Moreover, does group interaction make you feel validated? Or it is just overly stimulated?

Based on the experiences I've had, I've always preferred group settings for therapy due to the way hearing the real experiences of others gave me a feeling of validation that wasn't available through a private session. This help me validate myself and feel less alone about what I was going through when I could relate to someone else's story and what they went through. I also use individual therapy as well to have a more personal and quiet environment to receive whatever focused support I need at that moment. Therefore, both formats of therapy work for different reasons.
