What Helps in Telling Difference Between Thoughts and Symptoms

It becomes hard sometimes to know whether a thought is genuinely your own or it is simply part of a symptom and particularly during stressful moments. One basic thing that may help many people is by checking how realistic the thought feels. It may be a symptom and not based on actual events if it sounds extreme, unlikely or may suddenly appears without context. A big difference can be experienced by taking a moment to pause before reacting.

Some rely on someone who is very much trusted to help. It is also suggested to get a second opinion from someone who understands the condition can provide clarity. Sometimes keeping track of patterns also helps.

Others find that it is useful to ask themselves some practical questions like whether there is any evidence to it. Writing down and revisiting later can separate temporary symptoms from true thoughts.

I really relate to this because I also stop and check my thoughts when things feel too intense or out of place. I ask myself if the idea makes sense or if it just popped up from stress, and that simple pause often gives me clarity.
