Does Creativity Help or Make Things Worse

Creativity is always considered a powerful outlet. However, it turns out to be a bit of a double-edged sword for some people with schizophrenia. Expressing yourself through art, writing, music etc can be calming and therapeutic. The mind gets something meaningful to focus on. Many say that creativity makes them feel productive, connected or understood when words alone don’t feel enough.

Well, creativity can also sometimes become overwhelming and particularly if it leads to overthinking, emotional intensity or triggers symptoms. Some says that it becomes harder to stay grounded. Others claim that creativity is something that they enjoy during more stable periods.

This means that experiences vary from person to person. Some find it healing while others find it stressful. Many even experienced both and both on their mental state.

Do share how does creativity affect you personally? Does it provides relief and clarity or else fuel confusion.

Utilizing creativity helps me slow down my thought process. It creates a sense of focus and calmness that allows me to express what words cannot describe. On hectic or chaotic days, I always make sure to exercise caution as creativity can take me too far in my mind. To use creativity properly, I need to feel stable within myself before doing so.
