Managing anxiety alongside schizoaffective symptoms

Anxiety often coexists with schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder. This makes symptoms feel harder to manage. Racing thoughts, tension or fear may sometime intensify mood swings. Learning to cope with anxiety thereafter becomes an important part in symptom management.

Some rely on grounding techniques such as deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation or mindfulness exercises. Others prefer walking or light exercise to release tension.

It is not to forget that external support also matters. Talking to someone, joining a support group or engaging with online forums helps in reducing the feeling of anxiety.

How do you handle anxiety? Do specific strategies work better? Share your experiences as these may help others in finding the right tools.

I totally relate to how anxiety can make everything feel heavier. For me, slow breathing and short walks help calm the rush in my head. Sometimes just talking to someone who understands makes a big difference.
